The 2024 edition of the annual flagship event of The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow : SANRAKSHAN, is proposed to be held on 24-25th August, 2024 in the Delhi National Capital Region. The Summit deliberations will focus on the umbrella theme of Building resilient businesses through sustainability & India’s Journey so far in navigating sustainability roads.

With new complications arising from the unprecedented geopolitical events disrupting global supply chain for many major industries, it has become increasingly important for businesses and economies to rethink their strategies to build higher resilience to this political and environmental uncertainty. 

2023 was a complex year for climate change and business sustainability. While major challenges persisted, significant trends emerged. 2023 marked the first time on record that every day within a year has exceeded 1°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial level. Close to 50% of days were more than 1.5°C warmer than the 1850-1900 level, and two days in November were, for the first time, more than 2°C warmer. Extreme weather events and geopolitical issues further emphasized the need for action. The COP28 held in Dubai saw several major announcements to reduce emissions and boost resilience in certain sectors. 125 countries signed onto the UAE Climate and Health Declaration, and finance providers mobilized an initial tranche of USD 1 billion for climate and health solutions.

Recognizing that sustainability is at the crossroads post this eventful year of 2023 leaving the economies worldwide grappling with how to deal with the climate crisis, IIM Lucknow is organizing its flagship Business Sustainability Conclave: Sanrakshan to provide a common platform for representatives from international organizations, government, business & industries, research & academia, civil society, and youth to deliberate on the urgency to mainstream sustainable development goals (SDGs) for collective action.
